I love vacation.  It’s like a week long birthday party where you get to go to the beach and on bike rides and walks and people come back from shopping with gifts galore for me to play with.  Last week, Mom and Dad took me to Chatham, MA on Cape Cod with Grandma, Grandpa, Gr-Aunt Carol, and Gr-Uncle Rich.  We packed the car up so tight with stuff that Mom couldn’t see out the back window while we were driving down.

Traffic was heavy on the drive down to the Cape last Saturday, but I didn’t mind so much because I got snacks and an Elmo DVD to keep me entertained.  I never really get to watch DVDs in the car, but I think the prospects of a 3 1/2 hour ride broke Mom and Dad down a little.

We rented a beautiful house a couple blocks from the ocean and also from Main St. in Chatham.  Chatham is a very fun Cape town.  We went shopping on Main St. every day and there were all sorts of little shops and restaurants along the way.  I even got to have some ice cream at Emack & Bollio’s.  My favorite store was the bookstore, Where the Sidewalk Ends.

One day at the bookstore we went to story time, where Brian Lies, the author of Bats at the Beach was there with his Bat Mobile to read us his story about a night at the beach for the Bats around the Cape.  He even signed a copy of the book with a message just for me.

My favorite part of vacation though, was going to the beach with the whole family!

I went swimming at Oyster Pond, a little bay not far from our house.  When I wasn’t in the water playing and watching all the kids having a blast, I could usually be found hanging out reading a book and soaking in a little sun (well as much as 30 SPF will allow).

Grandpa even tried to take a nap at the beach, and I was going to have none of that!

We also went to Caughlin Beach, which wasn’t more than a mile away from our house but right on the Ocean!

I loved having people dig holes so I could climb in and build sand castles so I could knock them down!

It was just as much fun watching the people at the beach as it was playing in the sand.

Mom showed me all the boats and we even got to look for seals that were swimming along the shore.

I can’t wait until we go to the beach again!  I couldn’t imagine having any more fun!

Thanks to Mom, Dad, Grandma, Grandpa, Carol and Rich for a wonderful vacation!  I hope we get to do it all again next year.

Its been a little while since I have been able to post and but I did want to wrap up my vacation in Fort Myers with some thanks and a little video.

So, thanks to Mom and Dad for bearing with me on the plane rides. It was quite the trip, but we survived ok! Thanks to Zaza for giving us a place to stay and playing with me. Thanks to Gigi and Bob for letting me swim in their pool and come visit! Thanks to Auntie M for making the trip down to Florida just to see me!

Here’s a picture of Auntie M and I hanging out on the lanai (or screened in porch for those who are unsure).

I had so much fun swimming in the pool with my Mom and Dad. It’s a good thing we’ve been to swimming lessons. At lessons I don’t get the fun floaty though. I may need to bring this up with them.

I had a fun trip to the beach too. We built sandcastles and I did my best not to eat any sand.

I can’t wait for our next vacation!

Today was a beautiful day in Fort Myers.  I spent the morning at the pool, then after lunch (and a nap) we went to the largest sandbox and pool that I have ever seen.  My Dad told me later that it wasn’t a sandbox, but a beach and that it wasn’t a pool, but the ocean.  Little does he know that Gigi told me it wasn’t really the ocean, it was the Gulf of Mexico.

Here are some pictures of my trip to the beach today.

This sand is very soft.  My Mom told me I shouldn’t eat it.  So I didn’t.

Sand castles are fun to build…

…but even more fun to smash!

The beach is alot of fun, but I am not so sure about the cold water and the waves yet.

I had so much fun yesterday.  We did alot of swimming, went for a walk on the beach, and visited with Gigi and Bob.  I like this 75 degree thing much better than 25 degrees like back at home!

Check out my Flickr account for all the pictures from day one of my vacation.  Here are some of the highlights.

Here’s a family picture in the pool at Gigi’s house.

I can say “Gigi” now.  Everyone seems to like when I do that.  I like that it makes Gigi smile!

I love swimming in my swimmy-floaty!  Its like my own personal yacht.

How fun is swimming?  Answer: Very Fun!

I could get used to this!

I can’t wait to do it all over again today!

Wish you were here ;)
